THE CASE HAS SOME LOOSE FELT ON THE INSIDE AND IS NOT IN MINT CONDITION! THE TWO MOST OBVIOUS ARE ON THE LEFT PLATE ON THE BOTTOM AS SEEN IN THE PICS! IT DOES COME WITH A CASE AND THE PARTS/OIL BOTTLES AND PIECES ARE ALSO INCLUDED. IT HAS A CELLULOID FAUX PEARL DOUBLE HANDLE AND NOT THE COUNTER-BALANCED TYPE YOU TYPICALLY SEE ON THESE! THIS IS A SWEDEN MADE VINTAGE REEL AND IS ALSO A HIGHLY SOUGHT AFTER COLLECTABLE! THE REEL WORKS JUST AS IT SHOULD AND COULD BE FISHED WITH AS SOON AS YOU GET IT, BUT COULD USE A SLIGHT CLEANING! THIS HAS THE EARLY SMOOTH REEL FOOT WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER 846202 AND IS STAMPED NICE AND DEEP. more AND SNAPS BACK STRONG! IT HAS A COUPLE OF VERY LIGHT NICK SPOTS BUT NO ACTUAL"RASHING" THAT ARE NORMALLY SEEN ON AN EARLY MODEL LIKE THIS.
Trying to use braid on my Qualia DM-40 was pretty much of a disaster (see recent post), so, I'm back to the baitcasters.THIS VINTAGE ABU GARCIA MODEL 5000 IN THE RED FINISH AND IS IN 100 PERFECT WORKING CONDITION! THE HANDLES REEL SMOOTH. I wonder if Abu used the same thread nut on any of their old spincast reels? If yes I might be able to rob one just so I can try out my new line. if I know in advance the nut is metric or not (I assume the original Swedish nut would be metric), and B ) I can buy the qty. Luckily, in the h'ware store I most often frequent, the machine screws & nuts are mostly in open bins (not prepackaged), so, A) I can eyeball it & find the right size fairly quickly, esp. (Mostly they hire young college kids, and not once has an employee suggested a sizer when I go in looking for a match of a machine screw or nut.) Haha - in these stores around here, I'll be lucky to find an employee who knows what a thread sizer is, in 5 minutes.
